Well loved quilts sometimes need a little TLC. Tink and Wendy are here to help. Whether there is a tear, a hole, overly faded piece of fabric or worn down binding, we can usually fix it. Even a stain on Grandma's antique quilt can either be gotten out or fabric can be replaced.
Depending on the size and type of repair, the intricacies are different, but the basics are the same.
We begin by assessing if new fabric is needed. If so we work to locate the closest fabric as possible. We may fade the fabric to better match the current fabric or find a similar style fabric.
If a tear can be sewn back together neatly it will be done, otherwise a patch will be created. In some cases a new piece of fabric will be put in the place of an older one that has a tear, hole or is thread bare. New fabric is usually added to existing fabric for the binding, unless it is worn it too many places. Then the old binding is cut off and a new one put on.
Quilt repair is $30 an hour with a 2 hour minimum.
